Feed a Child, Make a Difference

According to government statistics, there are 40,000 children residing in 811 registered children's homes across the country. However, it is a well accepted fact that the actual number of children living in residential care in Kenya is significantly higher.

While public sentiment towards these child residential care facilities (children's homes) remains mixed, it is undeniable that these homes serve a critical role. Children's homes fill the gap when a child's family and the local community are unable to provide love and care.

Children living in residential care facilities are likely to have histories of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) such as violence, substance abuse, physical, sexual, emotional abuse, and neglect.

Adverse childhood experiences are both preventable and mitigatable. By creating stable, safe, and nurturing care environments, and providing children with opportunities for play and relaxation we can help all children reach their full potential.

Through the Feed a Child, Make a Difference initiative, Chapati King supports 12 children's homes spread across Nairobi and Kiambu counties. By providing over 3,200 chapatis every month, and hosting social outings every school holiday, we hope to make a positive difference in children's lives.
